Nikita Mays Obituary

We gather today to celebrate the life of the charismatic and adventurous Nikita Mays, who lived each day with a vibrant spirit and an infectious sense of humor. Born on February 5, 1965, in Chicago, IL, Nikita spent his life creating memories with loved ones, crafting culinary masterpieces, and sharing his love for life with everyone he encountered.

He touched the lives of many with his infectious smile, laughter, positivity and creativity. He loved to share his passion for cooking, baking, BBQ, driving, music, comedy, dancing, and much more. As the American author, Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation," and Nikita most certainly lived by this mantra.

Nikita, a globally traveled soul, had an insatiable appetite for adventure and loved to be on the move, having lived in Chicago, Illinois, London, United Kingdom, Kawasaki Japan and ninally settling in Aurora, Colorado, for the past 25 years. Nikita had a very diverse career. Nikita was a Chet, leacher, Baker, Logistics Managers, Truck Driver, Chauffeur, and more. He brought the world to his kitchen, infusing his culinary creations with flavors and techniques from his travels. Nikita was able to put on many hats, but was well known for his interesting story telling. His love for his family was immense, and he often said that what mattered most to him was his family. Nikita was always thinking about his family.

Surviving Nikita are his children Blu Mays, Sky Mays, Yuma Mays, his sibling Ebonie Harris, his mother Jesse Mays, and his former wife Sayoko Mays. Nikita was preceded in death by his father William Harris and his brother Sherron Mays.

His memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with. As we remember Nikita, we are reminded of the quote by Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened." And indeed, Nikita's life was a beautiful journey that brought smiles to many Faces.
